Patrick T’s Gate Series locked in to international contract

The Limestone Coast’s wine regions are being showcased internationally through a new agreement between Patrick T and one of the world’s largest direct wine marketers. Cellarmasters has branded winemaker Patrick Tocaciu a ‘Regional Star’, securing exclusive rights to the Patrick T Gate Series for its 360,000-strong member base.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Wrattonbully and Coonawarra to the rest of Australia and New Zealand,” says Patrick T. “To have the security of a big arm like that going to the market place is an asset for a relatively small player, and it’s also exciting from my point of view as it really gives me a great foundation to promote a region that is still developing an identity.”

The partnership follows ten months of negotiations with Cellarmasters, which traditionally sources its wines directly from the winery or vineyard concerned, giving customers an express route straight to the cellar door.

“They were targeting an icon and they wanted Wrattonbully, so I have been given the opportunity to test market what they’re calling brand champion, taking a wine identity and associating it with what they are achieving within a region,” Patrick explains. “I think there’s going to be some really great benefits for the identity of the region…We have produced five different wines from there that all display strong regional characteristics.”

While Cellarmasters liked the story of the emerging territory of Wrattonbully, the company was equally as impressed with Patrick T’s Mount Gambier Pinot Noir 2007, which features in a Regional Stars six-pack containing classic wines from classic regions.

You’ll be blown away by the quality on offer here. You’ll also be one of the first to try the sublime Patrick T Pinot Noir from the up-and-coming cool climate region of Mount Gambier, South Australia.’ – Cellarmasters.

“I’m excited about this because it is my home town, and I’ve got to be thankful for a couple of people that have given me the opportunity to use their fruit. People like our wines, the story behind them and the sense of discovery.” Patrick T says.

Mother of Pearl

An exciting combination of fruits from the sea and vine have contributed to the development of the unique Mother of Pearl wine range from South Australia’s Limestone Coast.

This exclusive collection featuring chardonnay, shiraz and cabernet merlot has been produced by nationally recognised Coonawarra winemaker Patrick Tocaciu in partnership with abalone diver Graham Pollard and a select group of investors from the lucrative South Australian fishing industry.

Mother of Pearl pays homage to the exquisite Mother of Pearl abalone and the ancient, shell encrusted sea beds of the Limestone Coast which today serve as the foundation for the region’s lucrative wine industry.

Vineyards thrive in free draining soils derived from fossilised marine formations and windswept dunes. Combined with a cool climate, they allow for fruit yields with strong maritime influences and consistently outstanding quality.

The range is famous for its unique flavour, with a rich smooth finish that emulates the perfection of the Mother of Pearl. This treasure from the majestic Southern Ocean has been combined with the jewels of our Great Southern Land to form a wine which should be enjoyed with good food, great friends and if you are really lucky…abalone.
