Latest News…

I am pleased to say that we continue to have exciting developments with our wines.

We are steadily securing the Patrick T label in the market place as a quality, boutique, Coonawarra/Wrattonbully wine label. We have begun exporting with our first batch to Korea. There are more off shore sales happening at the moment. Our local market place is growing steadily in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide and as you dine in the finest restaurants, you are now more likely to find a PatrickT Wine on the wine list.

* A silver medal at the 2007 International Riesling Challenge
* 5 cups in the James Halliday 2007 Wine Companion book for 2006
* Our Jessie Botrytis Semillon, 2004 Patrick T Riesling and the 2000 Patrick T Museum Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon were selected in the 'Finest Drop' Cellars group promotions for Christmas 2007. Link to the ‘Finest Drop’ cellars for gift pack availability.

Our 2007 summer promotions included the wonderful, strawberry tasting HOME BLOCK 2006 Rose. This wine is a great summer wine and exceptionally good to accompany a light, long lunch.

During the Coonawarra Cabernet weekend in October, we released our new wines. PATRICK T 2007 New Release Sauvignon Blanc and PATRICK T 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Now available in a dual gift box, these wines are a dynamic dual, complementing each other for that special gift. These are available through the cellar door or from our distributors.

We also have crafted wooden boxes containing your selection of one dozen Patrick T wines.

To further promote our wines, both on shore and off, we welcome Mr. Christopher Pryor who has joined us as our Sales and Marketing Manager. If you would like to be included on our data base for newsletters, new product releases and special discounts , please contact Chris at chris@patricktwines.com or phone him and give him your details.

We have upgraded our wine label to now include our own logo. This promotes Rex’s biodynamic, viticultural practice in the vineyards. The label markets the Patrick T awareness of sustainable futures with our land, and its natural resources.

Updated stockist lists for Melbourne and Adelaide are available by contacting us at the cellar door and will be added to the web site shortly.

Winemaker joins Government Trade Delegation to NZ

A Coonawarra winemaker has made a made a successful trip to New Zealand to encourage more Kiwis to drink South Australian shiraz. Patrick Tocaciu joined Premier Mike Rann on the overseas tour designed to highlight the State’s expanding economy and showcase some of our best assets, including SA’s most famous export - wine.

“My job was to promote six shiraz wines from six regions within South Australia including Coonawarra, Wrattonbully, Eden Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley,” Patrick T explains. “I ran a tutored tasting session walking the participating trade representatives through each of the regions from a winemaker’s perspective, and then gave them the opportunity to taste the different wines.”

The forum also served as the launch pad for the release of the Patrick T and Mother of Pearl label to NZ tastebuds. The Mother of Pearl range is an exciting combination of fruits from the sea and vine produced by Patrick Tocaciu in partnership with Limestone Coast abalone diver Graham Pollard and a select group of investors from the lucrative South Australian fishing industry. The exclusive collection features chardonnay, shiraz and cabernet merlot.

“As a first impression, the Kiwis loved the Shiraz and Cabernet blends, but were very parochial when the whites were mentioned, as these, of course, are their specialty,” Patrick T says.

Nevertheless, the label was immediately picked up by a cafe at Tuta Kaka in the Bay of Islands, while talks are also now underway with a number of independent fine wine cellars throughout the North and South Island.

“We’re thrilled with the reaction to our range, which continues to grow from strength to strength,” Patrick T says. “We like to think that we’re forging our own path beyond the distinctive gate which features on our logo, and we’re thoroughly enjoying the journey from the grapevine to the global market.”
